BCD Barcelona Design Centre is a private non-for-profit foundation created in 1973 which aims to promote a better knowledge of design and its strategic value among business and public bodies, and as a driver for innovation, as well as for improving people’s quality of life.
With a wide range of projects and activities, BCD also promotes the Barcelona brand linked to design as a quality seal for businesses.
BCD organizes international events such as the BDW - Barcelona Design Week addressed to those companies and professionals in any industry or productive services that use knowledge and creativity as a driver of its business activity.
BCD offers an active support for the work being carried out by BEDA (the Bureau of European Designers Associations) and holds presently its Vice-Presidency. BEDA’s aim is to defend the value of design and innovation before the European Commission.
In addition, BCD has been elected by the European Commission as member of the newly established European Design Leadership Board. Through this initiative, members of the board will also support the EC in developing a joint vision, priorities and actions to better integrate design into innovation policy.
BCD is also member of the DMI, Design Management Institute and ICSID, International Council of Societies of Industrial Design.
