Countdown begins to participate in the jumpthegap® Roca International Design Contest

January 23, 2015

The sign-up deadline is February 25, after which the project registration phase will begin.

The contest organisers have announced a major change, increasing the total cash prizes from €9,000 to €15,000.

The registration period to participate in the jumpthegap® Roca International Design Contest ends February 25. This year, the organizers have announced that the winners of two of the awards will receive €6,000 rather than €4,000. The cash prizes awarded for the best design of a bathroom space are divided into student and professional categories.

Likewise, this edition will introduce a new, third prize for best sustainable design, awarded by the We Are Water Foundation. Roca has also increased the cash prize for this award from €1,000 to €3,000, in an effort to duly reward such a significant effort.

After the registration period, open since September 28 last year, contestants have until March 25 to submit their projects online at www.jumpthegap.net. The jury, headed by renowned Chinese architect Ma Yansong, will then preselect the best projects.

Since this sixth edition was launched, members of the jury — such as Portuguese designer Guta Moura and prestigious, London-based architecture critic and journalist Tom Dyckhoff — have travelled throughout Europe giving talks and conferences in various venues (including the Lisbon and London Galleries) to publicize the contest promoted by Roca in collaboration with the Barcelona Design Centre (BCD). In a few weeks, Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz will travel to the Roca Madrid Gallery to offer his particular vision as a jumpthegap® juror.

All the information on the competition as well as the legal terms are available at the official website: www.jumpthegap.net also through the Facebook profile (www.facebook.com/jumpthegap).
