Roca receives the Gold 'IF Communication Design Award 2011'

February 22, 2011

The International Forum Design honours Roca’s exhibition space in the last edition of London 100% Design.

Roca has been awarded the Gold 'IF Communications Design Awards 2011' for their stand in the last edition of the London 100% Design exhibition held in September 2010. The awards ceremony will take place on March 18th in the BMW Welt in Munich (Germany).

his award recognizes the innovative approach of Roca's exhibition space, 'The Wave', designed by the German Studio White Void. 'The Wave' surprised everyone who came to Roca's stand for its exceptional design and innovative kinetic installation of 15 linear metres of moving light, composed of 40 blue lights suspended from the ceiling. Thanks to their built-in motors, they move synchronously when they detect movement underneath, simulating the movement of a wave and creating a unique atmosphere.

The IF Communication Design Award is one of the most prestigious international awards in the world of design. The granting of this award reaffirms Roca's role as a global leader in innovation and design, as demonstrated in both their products and their exhibition showcases in major international forums.

In the last London 100% Design trade fair, Roca also presented the 4th edition of the jumpthegap International Design Contest, that has generated unprecedented interest, with 3,004 entry submissions received from 92 countries.

Nowadays, the participants in the contest have until the 29th April 2011 to present their projects. From that date onwards the judges panel, presided by the architect Ron Arad and comprised of leading lights from the world of architecture and design such as Gilda Bojardi, Javier Mariscal, Marcel Wanders, John Anthony Sahs and Tomek Rygalik, will make their finalists shortlist. The name of the winner will be announced next September in London, the venue chosen for this year's awards ceremony.

The jumpthegap International Design Contest, created by Roca in conjunction with the BDC (Barcelona Design Center), is targeted at professionals and students of architecture and design under the age of 35 from any country around the world. The event provides an important launch platform for young talent, both in Spain and abroad.
