The 24 short-listed projects for jumpthegap® 2021
There are already 24 short-listed projects for the tenth edition of jumpthegap®, which will award prizes to ideas for the bathroom space that contribute to sustainable development. Based on this first selection, the jury will choose the winners in each category and the Best of the Best of the competition.
The winners of the new jumpthegap® generation will be announced shortly. The competition has adjusted its rules to recognize those bathroom space projects that contribute to the attainment of the challenges set out in the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. This new approach has opened up the participation of new profiles of architects and designers from all over the world, as evidenced by the high participation levels at a time still marked by the impact of the pandemic.
Among all submitted proposals, the selection committee has chosen a total of 24 projects, six in each of the four categories of the competition. This committee is made up of representatives of the Roca Design Center and the Roca Global Innovation Hub.
These are the 24 short-listed projects:
- Wellness & health:
- [Un]neutral design:
- Mist brush
- Roca Squat
- Urinals for Visually Impaired
- Water & energy:
- Essential water
- Society Water
- Intelligent washbasin design with water consumption level signaling
- Crisis & emergency:
- Redesign Disaster

- In A Box
The jumpthegap® jury, chaired on this occasion by the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, will analyze these 24 projects from the 20th to the 30th September and will choose the winners and runners-up in each category. Finally, the Best of the Best project in this new edition of the competition will be selected among the four winners.
The winners will be announced at a special gala event that will be held at the Roca Barcelona Gallery on the 14th October in a hybrid format. Along with the online presentation of the awards to the winners, the event will include an on-site round table with the presence of different members of the jury.
We wish good luck to the authors of the short-listed projects and sincerely thank all participants for their effort and creativity.
For those of you who have not been short-listed, we encourage you to participate in future editions.
Please remember that these projects are anonymous to the jury. Therefore, if you are one of the authors, please do not communicate which one is your project until the jumpthegap® voting process has finished and the winners have been announced.
